Watchers of the North premieres on APTN, September 5

Watchers of the North, produced by Picture This Productions‘ Maureen Marovitch (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Global Marketing) and directed by David Finch (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Totally Television) premieres on APTN Thursday, September 5.

The action-packed, six-part documentary series follows the training, patrols, and search and rescue missions of Canadian rangers in two Nunavut communities.

The Canadian Rangers, formed in the closing stages of WWII, are a rare example of traditional knowledge outweighing military doctrine. Outside of the basic weapons, GPS, and search and rescue training rangers receive, members of the patrol rely heavily on their knowledge of the land and traditional navigation to carry out their duties.
