NSI grads and their projects nab Canadian Screen Awards nominations

The Canadian Screen Awards nominations were announced yesterday and several NSI grads and faculty made the list. They are:

  • Best History or Biography Documentary Program or Series: We Were Children – Kyle Irving (NSI Global Marketing) and Lisa Meeches (NSI Storytellers, NSI Advisor)
  • Best Dramatic Mini-Series or TV Movie: Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story – Brendon Sawatzky (NSI Features First, former NSI staff) and Ian Dimerman (former NSI staff)
  • Best Writing in a Comedy Program or Series: Less Than Kind – I’m Only Nineteen – Chris Sheasgreen and Marvin Kaye (both NSI Totally Television)
  • Best History or Biography Documentary Program or Series: Engraved on a Nation: The 13th Man – Jeff Peeler (NSI Global Marketing)
  • Best Motion Picture: Empire of Dirt – Jennifer Podemski (NSI Global Marketing)
  • Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Empire of Dirt – Jennifer Podemski (NSI Global Marketing)
  • Achievement in Direction: The F Word – Michael Dowse (NSI Drama Prize)
  • Adapted Screenplay: The Grand Seduction – Michael Dowse (NSI Drama Prize)
  • Best Original Program or Series produced for Digital Media – Fiction – Everyone’s Famous – Angus Swantee (NSI Drama Prize) and Walter Forsyth (NSI Totally Television)
  • Best Direction in a Drama Program or Mini-Series: The Phantoms – Sudz Sutherland (NSI Totally Television)
  • Bell Media Award for Best Comedy Program or Series: Tiny Plastic Men – Camille Beaudoin (NSI Totally Television)
  • Best Children’s or Youth Fiction Program or Series – ALIVE – Jordan Gross (NSI Totally Television)
  • Best Factual Program or Series: Yukon Gold – Trevor Hodgson (NSI Features First)
  • Best Music Program or Series – God’s Greatest Hits – Jason Charters (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Global Marketing)
  • Best Variety or Sketch Comedy Program or Series – 20th Annual Indspire Awards – Jennifer Podemski (NSI Global Marketing)
