Laura Friesen appointed NSI communications coordinator

The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Friesen to permanent communications coordinator.

Laura joined NSI in fall 2013 to cover maternity leave for NSI’s programs and communications coordinator Lauren MacDiarmid, who has chosen to be with her young son full time.

Laura’s role includes publicity, alumni relations, marketing, support of the NSI Online Short Film Festival, event management and more.

“It’s great to officially welcome Laura to the NSI family. Her talent for communications, plus her energy and unique shoe collection has been a great addition to our team,” said John Gill, NSI CEO.

“We also bid farewell to Lauren MacDiarmid, who has been part of NSI for nearly 10 years. We thank her for the passion she brought to her role, especially with our alumni and annual Best of Hot Docs event, and wish her and her new family well.”

Laura is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg with a degree in English and women’s & gender studies. Her most recent communications role was at the Children’s Museum in Winnipeg.
