Black Kite at TIFF Bell Lightbox

Black Kite, from director Tarique Qayumi (NSI Diverse TV Director), begins its theatrical debut in Toronto tomorrow, June 1, at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Catch the film on June 1 and 2 for screenings with Tarique in attendance. The film runs daily through Thursday, June 7.

Growing up through the modernizing regime of Mohammed Zahir Shah and the progressively more authoritarian governments that succeed it, Arian (Haji Gul) eventually sees his childhood passion, kite-flying, outlawed. When his young daughter pleads with him to teach her how to fly a kite, he risks harsh retribution to pass on this family tradition.
