NSI CEO announcement from John Gill

John Gill

Today, I am announcing my resignation as CEO of the National Screen Institute, effective May 31, 2019.

It has been my privilege to lead the organization for the last eight years and I have truly loved my time working with my NSI colleagues. The NSI team is made up of some of the most talented and dedicated people I have ever known: thank you for everything you do.

Thank you also to the many friends I’ve made in Manitoba who’ve welcomed me into their communities and given me a much deeper understanding of what it means to be Canadian. To friends who showed me the grace, resilience and strength of Indigenous cultures and people on this land: Miigwech.

NSI is an incredible organization with an unbelievable record of accomplishment and success. The timing is right for me to step aside so that NSI can continue to reshape itself for the future. I know the organization remains in good hands.

I want to thank all the industry professionals who volunteer their time and expertise – our programs would be nothing without you. Thank you to the many incredible students who entrust their stories to us and whose accomplishments constantly inspire us.

Thank you to the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg for their commitment to the training and development NSI delivers.

I also want to thank the many individuals and organizations that have sponsored and supported NSI as well as the many colleagues who supported me personally – you know who you are and I will always be grateful.

I am also grateful to the NSI Board of Directors for their years of support and for entrusting the leadership of the organization to me. Finally, thank you to my family and friends for supporting me in this crazy commuter lifestyle for so long.

I wish NSI nothing but continued success in the future.
