History

Through NSI IndigiDocs, Indigenous filmmakers received training and mentorship to develop a short documentary idea into a 10-minute finished film.

Each participant led the project as both writer and director.

During phase 1, participants attended online training sessions and completed assignments designed to evolve their documentary ideas and prepare for production. The program also included attendance at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.

Phase 2 focused on film production. Each participant worked with a mentor and executive producer during all stages of the production process including collaborating with the National Film Board on post-production.

Completed films were shown on APTN (a world-premiere, one-hour special featuring all four NSI IndigiDocs films), documentary Channel, CBC Gem, NFB platform, nsifilms.ca and aptnlumi.ca.
