Rachel Beaulieu, Amanda Kindzierski receive writing awards through The Ice Finger Commission

Congratulations to Rachel Beaulieu (NSI IndigiDocs) and Amanda Kindzierski (CBC New Indigenous Voices, NSI IndigiDocs) on their recent wins in The Ice Finger Commission through Winnipeg Film Group.

Rachel won in the emerging Indigenous writers category for her screenplay Lightning. Rachel’s 1950s film follows Pete “Lightning” and a group of First Nations veterans who have stopped in for a victory drink at a small-town bar. A brawl breaks out over prejudiced remarks.

Amanda won in the emerging LGBTQ2S+ writers category for her screenplay Going Away Party. The film follows a group of LGBTQ2S+ friends as they enjoy one last night together.

Amanda and Rachel both receive $500 to help assist in their screenplay development.
