Filmmaker’s statement

To me, ‘Til Death is a fable about love at its most pure. Love before being sullied by jealously, tarnished by selfishness and complicated by age.

The magical realist lens seemed most apt to portray a love untainted by the experience or cynicism of the real world. The story is told through a child’s perspective, bringing us closer to our young protagonist and showing us a child’s ability to see love unfiltered.

About Connor Gaston

Connor Gaston is a screenwriter turned director when words on a page were not enough.

His first short film, Bardo Light, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012.

‘Til Death screened at the Cannes Film Festival as part of Telefilm’s Not Short on Talent initiative and won awards across North America including the Norman McLaren Award for best student short film at the Montreal World Film Festival.

Godhead is Gaston’s latest short film which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2014.

He is currently working on his first feature film as a recipient of Telefilm’s Micro-Budget program.

Gaston recently graduated with an MFA in screenwriting from the University of Victoria.
