Why I Fired My Secretary

Quick stats about the movie

George is not the man he used to be. His lanky strut lacks the swagger it had before the grey hairs and the divorce papers. Left and right, George is slighted by his colleagues.

Even Jenny, his secretary, dismisses this mouse of a man. Today George realizes that even his own instincts are out to get him.

Director’s statement

Brianne Nord-Stewart says:

Why I Fired My Secretary is the second film I made in Australia. It was produced during my university exchange in Melbourne.

The restrictions of the project were that is had to be 4-8 minutes in length, only 1,600ft of 16mm stock could be used, and it had to be filmed in 72 hours or less.

I was fortunate enough to have a friend who worked in a beautiful office, and the location really brought out the great acting performances. Why I Fired My Secretary brought on new challenges as if was my biggest production at the time, but it also was a great working with actors experience.

The cast opened up and proved excellent at improvising comedy! It was a pleasure to work with the cast and crew and I thank everyone who made the film a possibility.”
