Co-presented by the National Screen Institute and Film Training Manitoba
Online development opportunity for Manitoba content creators
Do you have a great story idea but need expert guidance to shape it into a winning pitch? During this online workshop with Jan Miller, one of the top international development trainers and consultants in film and television, you’ll learn insider tips and get the tools needed to make your story idea sing and ready for pitching to an online forum at the end of training.
The accelerator is part of a series of distance education sessions created to provide up to eight Manitoba-based members and permits of IATSE 856; DGC Manitoba; ICG 669; ACTRA Manitoba, Winnipeg Indigenous Filmmakers Collective and NSI alumni with an opportunity to develop their story ideas while in isolation due to COVID-19.
It is the result of a partnership between Film Training Manitoba (FTM) and the National Screen Institute (NSI).
Program dates: May 10 to May 29, 2020
Application deadline: Applications are currently closed
Cost: Program partners will cover the $100 participant application fee for this program edition
Training will be delivered in three phases including:
1) Instruction to further develop your ideas at home
2) Online sessions with consultant for mentorship and feedback
3) Final online pitch forum
Eligible project ideas can be drama or documentary; short or feature length films; television or web series; and podcasts.
The accelerator will culminate in an online forum where you will pitch your project to a panel that may include producers, funders and broadcasters.
This initiative was developed in response to feedback received from an outreach initiative conducted by FTM asking members of the local film community what support they would like to further their careers in light of COVID-19. Many expressed a desire to nurture their own projects.
