Applicants to our programs are invited to declare their Indigenous identity and share their connections to their community or communities. At a minimum, this will include identifying your nation or Indigenous affiliation and describing your lived experience as an Indigenous person in the context of your work.

We value your unique perspective and honour the importance of your heritage in shaping your contributions. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

To ensure the integrity and authenticity of our programs, we may contact shortlisted Indigenous applicants to ask for the following information to confirm their identity:

• Proof of citizenship or nationhood
• Letter of support from a governance organization (e.g., Band office)
• Letter of support or nomination from an Indigenous community organization or group

We understand that these steps are important to uphold the values and trust within our community. If additional information is needed or if there are any concerns, we may:

• Follow up via email to request further details
• Ask specific questions related to your identity statement
• If necessary, request a copy of your Status, Métis, governing body or land claims agreement card

If those forms of identification are not available, we may ask for a letter from the community or governing organization you are affiliated with.
