“Success is not final. Failure is not fatal.
It is the courage to continue that counts.”
– Winston Churchill
A couple weekends ago I desperately needed an energy boost. Odd fact about me: I’m a huge fan of Winston Churchill and his iconic quotes. So pressing play on The Darkest Hour felt like the perfect combination of entertainment and inspiration.
Several times throughout the film’s depiction of Churchill’s early days as prime minister during World War II, I raised my hand with an energetic and joyous fist pump. The quote above was a soul satisfying note to revive my spirit and fill me with courage to continue.
Today’s #GivingTuesdayNow – an emergency response initiative and new global day of giving – is an opportunity to flip the hourglass from fear and insecurity to unity and courage as we continue our journey through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Out of respect for the many frontline organizations who are raising funds to support and respond to the needs of all those who’ve been adversely impacted by COVID-19, the National Screen Institute has temporarily paused its 2020 fundraising campaign. But we’d like to show our solidarity for the #GivingTuesdayNow initiative by promoting it to our community. We encourage you to make a donation to any organization that supports those who unite, inspire, comfort and motivate you.
Rest assured, the National Screen Institute will resume fundraising activities in due course. In the meantime, our team is investing time in the development of several new initiatives while continuing to provide distance learning and online training programs for storytellers during the quarantine period.
Wishing you and yours good health and courage to seize the opportunities ahead.
