Strong Son, from award-winning Winnipeg filmmaker Ian Bawa (NSI Totally Television, NSI Business for Producers), has been optioned by Farpoint Films.

The film centres on a South Asian bodybuilder that moves back into his elderly father’s house to take care of him while maintaining his own physical and mental health and becoming his father’s primary caregiver.

Ian will write and direct the script based on his short film of the same name which originally premiered at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival.

Farpoint Films is a production company based out of Winnipeg led by a team of NSI grads including Kyle Bornais, John Barnard and Chris Charney (all NSI Features First).

The film is set to go into production in 2022. Kyle and fellow Farpoint Films producer Tony Wosk have signed on as producers.
