Sonya Ballantyne (CBC New Indigenous Voices, NSI IndigiDocs) has been recognized by Toys R Us and Barbie as one of their role models of the week.

The campaign aims to showcase examples of inspirational women. From Sheroes to Inspiring Women, the latest Barbie role models are all extraordinary women. According to their website, Barbie is committed to shining a light on empowering role models past and present in an effort to inspire more girls.

On social media, Sonya writes, “I got asked by Mattel to be one of Canada’s 60 women role models chosen to celebrate Barbie’s 60th anniversary.”
