Director’s statement
Jason James says:
“The Rock Shirt is a small personal film for me. I wrote it in a few hours and shot it in a day and a half with some friends.
I generally work on larger film projects and wanted to do something more immediate that spoke to some of the issues that I was facing in my everyday life: a little thing called growing up and becoming a father.”

Jason James is an award-winning producer/director.
Recent projects include the acclaimed feature films Repeaters (TIFF 2010), Cole (TIFF 2009), Fathers & Sons (VIFF 2010), Unnatural & Accidental (TIFF 2006) and the CBC comedy TV series This Space For Rent.
Short format projects include a commercial for the David Suzuki Foundation, music videos for rock bands The Smugglers and Mount Pleasant and the award-winning short films Light Rapid Transit (Clermont-Ferrand 2005) and Rugged Rich And The Ona Ona.
Jason has also produced on the acclaimed CBC TV series Da Vinci’s Inquest (seasons 4-7), CTV’s Robson Arms (season 3) as well as produced and directed a new media project for the History Television series Ice Pilots and the W Network documentary Making Waves.
Jason has previously been invited to attend the Film Independent Filmmaker Lab, Telefilm/CFC/Just For Laughs Comedy Features Lab, Toronto Film Festival Talent Lab, the Rotterdam Talent Lab, a CTV Fellowship at the Banff Television Festival and The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television’s National Director Apprenticeship program.
