Director’s statement
Brianne Nord-Stewart says:
“Why I Bought a Bike is the first film I made outside Canada. It was produced during my university exchange in Melbourne, Australia.
The restrictions of the project were that is had to be 1-2 minutes in length, only 400ft of 16mm stock could be used, and it had to be filmed in 12 hours or less. I approached the film first by brainstorming simple concepts that I could communicate in 120 seconds.
When a friend of mine spoke about a first time sexual experience I knew I had a story, or at least a universal moment.”
