Quick stats about the movie
Danielle Da Silva
Three people with harrowing stories of struggle hope to change their lives for the better but only if they can break out of Manitoba’s welfare system.
Writer/director/producer: Danielle Da Silva
“This eight-month project was a labour of love, and it had to be because it was the first film I produced with a lot of hiccups and bumps along the way.
However, at the end of the day it was worth it. This film has helped changed the lives of Dwayne, William and Heather in ways I didn’t think possible.
It’s also helped change the perception of what being on welfare looks like in my hometown. Everyone has a story as to how they ended up in the position they’re in. If you take the time to listen and ask questions, the answers can be enlightening.
