About Amanda Strong

Amanda Strong is a filmmaker and media artist working between Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Making use of diverse media – film, photography and illustration – and artistic collaboration, her work seeks to create meaningful bridges via the creation of imaginary worlds, crossing traditional film genres of documentary, animation and narrative.

Just as important to her personal practice, her engagement with community plays a significant role in her practice. Amanda has curated, facilitated, programed and taught youth all across Canada.

Amanda is currently working on two projects: Honey for Sale, a feature animated documentary and Napoleon, a personal animated short.

Her work has been exhibited and screened worldwide, including her latest short animation Indigo which was selected for the 2014 Cannes Short Film Corner and was an official selection of the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.

Amanda has received grants from Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts and the National Film Board of Canada. Most notably she received the 2013 K.M. Hunter Media Arts Award via the Ontario Arts Council.
