Jess has moved to Ottawa to start a new job. Her boyfriend Jim takes it upon himself to travel from Toronto a few days early to ask Jess the ultimate question.

Filmmaker’s statement

“The Proposal was created for the Ottawa International Film Festival 72 Hour Film Challenge.

In one night the film was written and storyboarded. The following day the film was shot and edited, and the third day was used for music composition and final tweaks.

The team was called Team Awesomesauce, and that’s exactly what they were. Awesome.

The original idea and story came from one of our editors Jamie deRooy. The script was then written by our cinematographer’s wife Amanda McLaren, and revisions were done by Curtis. Everybody in our production had a say in what we were going to do right up until filming.”

Curtis Dickie was born in raised in Pembroke, Ontario.

From a young age he knew that one way or another he wanted to be in the movies. Whether in front of the camera or behind it.

As he grew older he found employment as a key grip on numerous projects which can be seen on the big and small screens.
